Artist Bio
Catherine (Cathy) McLaurin began coloring, drawing and painting in her early childhood where growing up in rural South Louisiana, there was plenty of time and objects of interests for creative expression. Though art was a big part of her developmental years, adulthood took her on a completely different career path. During the quiet times she always returned to palette and canvas.
Many of Cathy's paintings are her attempt to communicate her zest for life, as well as her journey along life's pathways as mother, friend and observer of her world.
From Southern themes to comtemporary modern pieces, most paintings contain a hidden scripture verse within the painting that relates to the art work. Cathy believes that her artistic ability is creatively encouraged by the faith she places in God.
She is a member of the River Region Art Association and the Denham Springs Fine Arts Association and represented by MOTA Art Gallery in Denham Springs.
