Sherwood Middle School Reviews

You couldn't buy a better education.

I love going to sherwood magnet. I have fun everyday and all the other students are very nice. The teachers are helpful and they teach us a lot

This is one of the best middle school in the entire state of Louisiana. The school offers many enrichment classes, such as forensic science, robotics, and pre law. The faculty is dedicated, and parent oriented. It is a safe and caring environment that produces students who are better prepared for a changing world. The school draws in students from throughout the parish except from Zachary, Central, and Baker which have independent school districts.

I find the school of discipline and structure which is good. But sometimes with the discipline all facts needs to be obtain so the structure will continue. Information is the key, which can be easily obtain by asking why and then an apprioate discipline shall follow. Exceptions to the rules, but limited, express concerns only. Working together as a team, meaning teachers, parents, and most of all the students how much better things will be. Having authority is a blessing and shouldn't be used as a weapon. Let us not forget someone showed concern and care for us so we could follow our dreams. Overall, I'm proud that my child attends sherwood middle magnet and sherwood middle magnet is my child's school. Progress is being made, so continue the strive of progressing more.

This school gets better every year! The changes made this year have had a noticable effect on the students. My son is in 7th grade and he is learning a lot, is happy, and we feel good about his whole middle school experience. The teachers are committed, caring, intelligent, flexible, understanding people who really want to teach these kids!

I have one child at Sherwood Middle she is in her final year there. I believe the school provides an excellent education to students who take high school course and advance courses which my daughter has been taking for three years. However, the some advance english course lack the required course work to prepare students for the intense work of high school and college. Many of the teacher do not stress the emphasis on writing. The lack of detail on the part of teachers on this important skill will hurt the child in the long run. Another problem is the school eight grade is required to take a manadatory state test to see if the qualify to be promoted to the 9th grade. I do not have problem with this if I felt that the children were prepared for the exam. I am having to go to privite tutor to get my daughter caught up on those skills that she lost between grade school and middle school. During this time teachers are teaching the test and other important subjects are being lost. This said, I believe the Sherwood Middel has some great, very committed teachers who get the kids excited about learning.
