St. Lukes Episcopal Day School Reviews

This is an outstanding school on many levels. My wife and I have 3 daughters, the younger two have been at St Lukes for 5 years now (grades 5 and 8). Our oldest is at LSU currently, doing fine, but things we struggled with during her school years have never been an issue for our younger kids. The faculty obviously cares about the children and are always available and willing to work with parents. Our girls have very different personalities, different strengths, and different weaknesses, but they have both thrived in this environment. I've also been pleased to see, in recent years, an increase in the diversity of the student body. They have maintained a commitment to accepting kids of all academic ability, and not trying to improve standardized test scores by screening admissions. Just a great school.

We love this school. We stumbled upon this school a few years ago and feel so blessed that we did. We were thrilled when they added the middle school. Foreign language, computer, art, music, PE, and religion all start in kindergarten. The love shown not only by the teachers, but the administration and support staff is so apparent that you can feel when you walk the school halls and you can see it in your children's eyes. The challenging curriculum is not even noticed by the students because the teachers are so good a presenting new material that kids usually pick it up in no time. The teachers are quick to notice if a student is struggling and give extra help and there is a tutor for children that might need individual help. Most importantly, the Christian atmosphere is something we would never trade!

This school is the best kept secret in Baton Rouge. The teachers obviously love to teach so much so that my children are disappointed when they cannot go to school on Saturday and Sunday. The curriculum is challenging but so much of the learning takes place through play that my children don't feel pressure to achieve (but the do achieve!). The librarians enthusiasm for reading is contagious, the art teacher is fabulous, the computer lab is state of the art, the music teacher gives vocal, theory and instrument instruction, and the physical education program is exceptional. The school is truly an extension of the home and provides incredible support for the families. St. Luke's is more than just a school it is a loving-community - there is no way to explain it you just have to visit for yourself. We feel blessed to have found this precious school!

Wonderful environment for children. Everyone knows your child and the teachers are very loving. The only downside is the lack of diversity in the student and teacher populations. But, anyone who is willing to get involved socially and otherwise will find a welcoming spirit at St. Luke's. We are Episcopalian so the weekly chapel services are a plus. The families get very involved so the school becomes like an extended family in your community.
