Gables Academy Reviews

Gables Academy is 'God sent' as far as our family is concerned. Our son is ADD/LD and did survive in the Livingston Parish School System (Live Oak Schools) until the 10th grade with many caring teachers and tutoring. I use the word survive because it was a 'family affair' and a struggle mostly for him. Gables Academy is not just a school that meets the needs of students that have difficulty in the mainstream classroom, they also offer the encouragement to enhance self esteem. He is a senior this year, studying for the ACT, active in sports and has plans for junior college. There are not enough words in the English language to accurately describe this school and the impact it has made on our son's future goals. So, remember it in your gift giving and alumni contributions. This school is one of a kind.

Gables Academy offers small class sizes and a good environment. This has been ideal for my daughter who has difficulty learning in a regular classroom. The teachers and staff are patient and sincerely care about each child.

We were dispalced from the New Orleans area because of hurricane Katrina. I found Gables in an ad in the phonebook. The school was very gracious with discounting some of the cost for enrollment and tuition. My child attended and was welcomed by the faculty and students. She has done exceptionally well. They offered just what we were looking for in a school. We regret that the school will not be opening for the 2006-07 school year but we are appreciative that they were here for us this year. I am a former student of Gables and I feel the school is great. The staff and teachers at Gables offer a very caring environment for all of their students. Each student is encouraged to do their best, but no one can be forced to make this decision. I was very active in all aspects of Gables, school activities, yearbook, newsletter, and student body. I was encouraged to push myself to learn college level courses and I was able to help other individuals who needed it. I just felt that the teachers and staff at Gables actually cared what happened to me. I wasn t just another one of the 40 kids in the classroom. I am now middle aged and have had a successful life so far and still visit Gables about every 6 months. The staff and teachers are still as friendly and caring as they were when I attended. I still to this day donate to The Gables Foundation just to show my thanks. I have recommended Gables to several people, all have given raved reviews and thanked me for the recommendation.

Gables advertises, they offer a caring environment for students who do not function in the mainstream of education. They also say the student's own learning style is taken into consideration in developing an individualized educational approach. This is what attracted our family to this school. My child's class has 8 students, so I think the teacher should have enough time to work individually with each child. It is unacceptable for a child to fail a subject in a class of 8. My money has been wasted, because my child failed. The tuition is much higher than comparable schools. I expected my child to receive an individualized educational plan, but the school failed to set anything up, although I made constant requests.

Great school for children who need that little extra to excel. I love the teachers and the tight family mesh of the school.
