Brighton Academy Reviews

This will be our first year at The Brighton School's Elementary campus. My daughter is 10 and was in the public school system in Broussard, La. For kids with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia it is a shame that the public school system is just plain 'in the dark'. For once in a very long time my child is so excited to go to school and the teacher's and staff are wonderful to say the least. These kids are average to above average students who have been done an extreme unjustice in the public schools. Thank God there is a great school where our kids can learn and grow academically and socially and are understood. Wake up Louisiana!

My son attends Brighton Academy. Brighton is a school where children with dyslexia are taught the learning skills they need to survive in a regular school setting and the world. Each child is encouraged to do their personal best. There is a wonderful Social Values class to help the students better understand good social behavior and better understand why they have been mistreated in other school situations. The teachers are highly skilled in working with students with learning differences. The principal is kind and knows each child by name. I would like to see some changes in the PE department to better encourage those students that are not athletically inclined. There are delicious, nutritious hot lunches served everyday. There is a great after school homework tutoring program. There is an athletic program. Parent involvement is quite good. However, I would like to see a stronger endowment and annual fund raising program.
