North Highlands Elementary School Reviews

In almost a decade of teaching, North Highlands was my first and probably most favorite school to work in. The faculty was warm and inviting to all who entered - new students, parents, colleagues, etc. There was always the atmosphere for us as professionals to extend ourselves to learn more, research new strategies, & to be on the cutting edge of technology integration into the classroom. The passion for teaching was contagious and this excitement is easily passed on to the children that attend here. Discipline was always handled fairly, consistently, and respectfully. Special needs students were identified quickly so that each child could learn to their full potential. Several have I am grateful that I started my career at North Highlands. It has made me the master teacher I am today even though I may be far away from NH.

North Highlands is the place to be if you want the best for your child. The staff truly cares for the students and will do everything to ensure that learning takes place. The principal holds high standards for every student. Discipline is never a problem with the no tolerance system in place. In response to another parent's comment, I would like to say that I have never taught in a school with as many supplies and as much technology as North Highlands. The school building may be old but is always extremely clean. If you want to visit one of the prettiest classrooms in the parish, visit our first grade rooms. Observe in our school on any day of the week and the five star rating will speak for itself!

For my child's first and second grade years, I was very pleased with North Highlands. For my child's third grade year, North Highlands has disappointed me very much. The school is not equipped with enough learning materials and the buildings are not in great condition, which makes the learning atmosphere difficult.
