Posted By: student Quality Score: 2 2008-11-01 “I student at phs and i just started going there and its already a mess! i mean everything there is just based on rules. last year the kids got to do what they wanted to, but now this year is just i dont know...the principal mrs outlaw is a complete outrage... she doesnt allow you to no privelages which i think s really unfair.. we just had red ribbon week and she didnt allow us to dress in casual clothes like we normally do.... now tell me what you think about that!!!UNFAIR” Posted By: student Quality Score: 2 2007-11-21 “I wouldn't say Plaquemine high school was a terrible school, but it's does need a few improvements. More activities should be provided for the students, and there are only a few teachers who show that they actually care about their students. The rules, i feel, are over the top. (Must have green jacket, belt, shirts tucked in, certain shoes, and certain color 'undershirts' and socks). Maybe they are trying to construct an orderly environment, but annoying the students over simple things will only make matters worst. With the excellent leadership of our new principal, Dr. Russell Plasczyk, I feel that before my brothers and sisters graduate, they will be able to experience a school that will be known nationally. Many people often criticize Plaquemine High for not offering a challenging enough curriculum, however, I have found this statement to be false. Students who wish to pursue some form of post-secondary education should enroll because the college-preparatory curriculum is very rigorous and challenging. I am not blind to the probelms that the school had, but I must say that I enjoyed my experience there. I loved almost all of my teachers, and felt as if they cared about me as a person. I only wished that the school offered more electives--which I understand they now do, in the form of AP classes. I am majoring in education and I intend to go back to PHS and teach there. But course I'm sure like 'all' schools in our area we have our problems. I mean at PHS you have to have a green jacket and if you don't they take it from you. You have to have your shirt tucked in or they will put you out of class! That is crazy! The best thing at Plaquemine High is the principle Mr. Newman. I personally think that Frank Pasquaw is out of cinc with todays children, just maybe if he had young children he would not send these children home. In the past when he sent my son home, I slipped a note under his office door to tell him to call me, this has been more than a month ago and he has refused to return my call.”
