Port Allen High School Reviews

Port Allen High is determined to decrease their dropout rate. They has developed many program aimed at this goal including the Freshman Academy. The Freshman Academy is geared toward graduating all incoming Freshman within 4 years. The results are yet to be seen as this is the first year the program has been implemented.

I graduated form port Allen high in the top of my class (2005-2006), but I didn't have to do much to accomplish that goal. I have been to many schools, but going to Port Allen was one the best schools in that it was a smaller school and therefore the teacher to student ratio was better than at my previous schools. Although I liked the school, I must say that I was never really challenged but by four teachers; Ms. Alleman, Ms. Tullier, Mr. Holimon, and Mr. Searcy. In short the school needs to reevaluate its teaching standards and let the teachers teach, instead of passing students to improve its graduate to drop out ratio. It needs to invest in more computers, better qualified teachers, and focus on education more than untucked shirts, the type of shoes you have on, or whether you have a cell phone at school.

Port allen high... I have been here 4 years now ...I'll be a senior 06-07.... To improve this school they need new faculty and new rules

Port Allen High school has many good intents on doing things to help the students but they never get done. If the school was more worried about the students education rather than how they look and dress then Port Allen HIgh would be a better academic rank school.

Port Allen Hogh School is a small school. The teachers are okay but some of them don't know what their doing. The sports programs are alright but can do better. The school just moved up to a two star school. So we made a little bit of improvement.

This school used to be awesome. Since the current administration took control, enrollment has been cut 1/2 from a couple of years, and the school board is allowing the demise of this once great school. Why? Some say that the board members are biased. Well, I have seen that first hand and know it to be true. I used to work there. The teachers at PAHS are not allowed to teach with passion. They are told to pass students for whatever reasons. Make test easy for classes...you get the picture. Maybe they once where good, but what is best for the students? A good teacher with passion about teaching.
