Bakerfield Elementary School Reviews

While Bakerfield isn't perfect, it is so much better than Baker Heights! The principal, Mr. Cook, is fair and consistent. I applaud him for doing a great job. He does not tolerate misbehavior, and will suspend / expel disruptive students. Mr. Cook supports his staff 100%, and does not have teacher turnover like the other schools. I found him willing to discuss issues, but parents must make an appointment. He does not allow parents to barge into classrooms, interrupting teaching and learning. Baker is lucky to have him!

While it's not the best school in the world it does have some positive attributes. When dealing with Mr. Cook, the principal, I found him a fair and decent person. He listened to what I had to say and tried to take care of the issue as soon as possible. As far as the teachers go it seems that there are some that do not want to teach, but there are others there that seem very dedicated to their job. My child was in 2nd grade this past year and her teacher was always very pleasant and accomodating. Overall, I liked Bakerfield.

I currently have a 3rd grader enrolled at bakerfield. It's been a difficult year and a terrible experience. The principal, mr. Cook, is completely all talk and no walk. He refuses to meet with parents regarding their concerns, he won't even respond to messages/faxes that parents send to his attention requesting to speak with him regarding issues at bakerfield. The teachers in 3rd grade don't really seem to teach, they are disorganized, don't seem to get along with each other well, and on the several occasions that i have gone to school to eat lunch with my child, they do not even acknowledge my presence with a simple hello. They discourage parent involvement. The kids watch movies all of the time as if it were a daycare. I am moving to save my child from the issues in this school district.
